Hello,
Has anyone tried and failed with enbrel and cimzia but success with humira??

My mum about to go on humira after enbrel stopped working and she is allergic to cimzia:(

They say only 3 available..... Anyone know of other treatment if humira doesn't work? She has very severe RA and mtx etc doesn't work....

We live in Scotland.

Thanks
Lisa

Hi

I have just started Humira so too early to tell if it is working. I have tried Cimzia but got very limited success with it. When Humira was suggested as the next drug to try I questioned the nurse about it. I thought that if Cimzia didn't work what was the point of trying another anti-TNF that worked in the same way. I asked if it would be better to try a different type of biologic drug. I was assured that the anti-TNFs all work in slightly different ways and so if one doesn't work it is still worth trying others.

Hope your mum finds the right treatment for her soon.

hello Lisa,

welcome to the forum.

i failed on Methotrexate and Hydroxycholorquine combination .. had to give it 18 months though.

had a long 6 month wait while my PCT approved my funding for Humira, and have now been on it 2 years. it has been magic for me. i am just stopping the Hydroxy and only take 10mg Methotrexate along with the Humira now.

i don't take any painkillers or steroids,

it's very trial and error to get the right meds,

i have a Humira Blog somewhere on here, i might update it for anyone else starting out on it.

best wishes to your Mum

Suzanne
